Canon EOS M6 Mark II memiliki sensor APS-C CMOS beresolusi 32,5 megapiksel dengan lensa M-mount. Pemrosesan gambar ditopang oleh chipset DIGIC 8. ISO-nya memiliki rentang 100-25600 yang bisa ditingkatkan hingga 51200 dan kecepatan shutter elektroniknya adalah 1/16000 per detik. Kamera ini dibekali sistem Dual Pixel CMOS AF dalam mode 4K. Untuk kapabilitas video, Canon EOS M6 Mark II mendukung format 4K 30p dan Full HD 120p tanpa crop.
Canon EOS M6 Mark II bisa menangkap gambar pada 14fps dengan penguncian fokus AF dan AE. Pada mode RAW Burst dengan kapabilitas pre-shooting, EOS M6 Mark II bisa melakukan pengambilan gambar hingga 30fps. Canon EOS M6 Mark II turut dilengkapi mic jack dan layar fleksibel yang memudahkan pengguna untuk membuat vlog, sebagaimana seri Canon M sebelumnya. Sayangnya, kamera ini tidak dilengkapi headphone jack. Di sektor konektivitas, Canon melengkapinya dengan fitur WiFi dan Bluetooth untuk memudahkan pemindahan file.
