Canon EOS M50 mampu merekam video 4K (crop 1,6x) dengan frame rate 24 fps, berikut video full-HD (1080p) 60 fps dan HD (720p) hingga 120 fps. Canon EOS M50 tertanam sensor APS-C dengan resolusi 24,1 megapiksel, dipadu chip pengolah gambar terbaru Canon, Digic 8. Kombinasi tersebut menghasilkan tingkat sensitivitas native ISO 100 hingga 25.600 yang dapat diekspansi hingga ISO 51.200.

Sensor gambar milik Canon EOS M50 turut dibekali teknologi Dual Pixel AF untuk melakukan continuous autofocus, baik saat menjepret foto maupun merekam video (kecuali 4K, di mana kamera terbatas hanya melakukan contrast detect AF). Di bagian belakang EOS M50 terdapat layar sentuh 3 inci dengan engsel fully articulated, sehingga bisa diputar ke segala arah. Pengguna juga bisa menyentuh LCD untuk memindah-mindahkan titik AF di sekeliling frame.

Canon EOS M50 turut dibekali electronic viewfinder (EVF) dengan resolusi 2,36 megapiksel, Fitur lain termasuk konektivitas Wi-Fi, NFC, dan Bluetooth, serta mode silent shutter yang sama sekali tidak bersuara ketika kamera menjepret gambar.
